Chemical composition
Grade 17-4 Cond-A, H1150 & H1150D stainless steel contains significant amounts of chromium, nickel, and copper, along with trace amounts of manganese, carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, silicon, and columbium/tantalum. The specific performance characteristics of 17-4 stainless steel include:
Annealed heat treatments are conducted at a range of specific temperatures to alter default hardness and performance characteristics. The H1150 and H1150D grades have been exposed to temperatures in the 1140° to 1160° range before being air-cooled. This technique improves the strength of the alloys while enacting slight density increases.
17-4 stainless can be used for a variety of applications and industries. It is normally used for applications that require high strength and corrosion resistance. It is frequently used for applications including:
