The Mo content of 316L makes the steel grade have excellent pitting corrosion resistance and can be safely used in the environment containing Cl- and other halogen ions. Because 316L is mainly applied to its chemical properties, the surface inspection requirements of 316L in steel mills are slightly lower (compared with 304), and customers with higher surface requirements should strengthen the surface inspection efforts.
