Studies have shown that INCONEL alloy 718LC exhibits excellent oxidation resistance at temperatures above 1300 degrees Fahrenheit (equal to 704 degrees Celsius). Its resistance to stress-accelerated grain boundary oxidation is comparable to that of INCONEL alloy 718 and is significantly better than that of INCOLOY alloy 909. At a density of 0.282 lb/in3 (or 7.81 g/cm3), it is 5 % lower than the density of INCONEL alloy 718 and INCOLOY alloy 909, thereby significantly increasing the strength-to-weight ratio. The properties of INCONEL alloy 718LC are similar to those of INCONEL alloy 718 both in manufacturing and processing and are less limited than those of INCOLOY alloy 909. In addition, the special metal INCONEL alloy 783 can be used as a forging billet (AMS 5940) and can also be used to make mechanically processed bars, extrusion profiles, and wires.
Generally speaking, the INCONEL alloy series has the following characteristics:
Element | Min | Max | Element | Min | Max |
